In today's video, I'll be sharing a couple of updates regarding the machine. Firstly, I'll discuss improvements in cable management and the design and crafting of a custom dust boot tailored specifically for this machine. Then, I'll guide you through the process of properly calibrating your NEMA motors in Mach 3 by setting your 'Steps per mm' or 'Steps per inch'. Accurately defining these param...

Welcome back for another update of my DIY CNC build series. Today, I'll bring you up to speed with everything I’ve been up to over the past 3-4 weeks. I took some time between this update and the last to familiarize myself with the machine and build trust in its performance capabilities. In this update, I'll showcase the brand-new baseboard and spoil board. We won’t be surfacing the spoil board...

Introduction to Forms in Fusion 360
Amazing, thank you so much for the short and to the point tutorial!
Hi did you made that video about PWM module connection and configure with all settings in mach (port setting for this rnr board)
what is the name of the machine?
I made it myself, I covered the whole build process on my channel👍🏻
thank you very much for this structured introduction. keep teaching this way.
I see the mesh on your image but did you employ it and place it on the face you are creating the text on?
But does it actually print correctly?
Sorry, got to this 1 and Im already sick of unnecessary spreadsheets, which you shouldnt have to do for all these exercises.
If you are doing a large part design which is only going to be a 1 of, with no possiblity of any changes, ie sizes, this parametric would be a waste of time, wouldnt it?
A 21:44 length tutorial video and it only at least eight hours to get it right.
No need for a primer if using Polyfilla, correct? Any thoughts on using just nail polish for small surfaces like eyeballs only?
Hey! what I used is a Filla-Primer, essentially a 2 in 1 solution. I recommend that! absolutely you can use nail polish, you can use anything as long as you can get it to stick!
I finally got an understanding about forms, thank you!
Hello Garath, nice CNC build and good to see you completed the project. For me the most interesting bit is the control aspect, the bit between the software and the actual CNC motion mechanics. There are many presenters for CNC builds and software, however not many delve into the Microcontrollers. It seems to me you have a talent for explaining and have sound knowledge of Microcontrollers. Will you be expanding your presentations with regard Microcontrollers in the future, e.g. STM32, ESP32, Arduinos etc? I hope you do as the Engineering of motion control is the important part of these types of project, please let me know and thanks for the good work. Jo
Hi , thank you for that , it was really easy to follow & has given me a clear understanding .
Ive just bought a 3d printer and just endured 4 painfully confusing vids to the point i nearly gave up. (And why do i have to listen to their life story before they start? 😴 ) Yours is a breath of fresh air. Made simple and to the point without spinning your cursor over the screen until i feel sea sick! Cheers.
TY, you hero
WARNING: This is OBSOLETE. Find a newer explanation of how to do this.
Roger, check the DESCRIPTION and COMMENTS where I linked the updated video many years ago.
Thank you!
What a fantastic build, can I ask you which RGB LED you have fitted?
cheers! It ws just a generic LED light strip that plugs into the mains. I ran the power out the back of the case, this way I can control it with a remote control.
Thank you for such detailed and clear instructional videos! I’m a technician in a school retrofitting a 6090 cnc machine that’s been dormant for 8 years. Following your videos I’ve been able to get my head around the components and update the machine to get all the axis working via Mach 3, so thanks! Regarding the PWM converter and relay board - is the current ‘stop, start forward reverse, Mach 3 control’ working separately to the PWM converter? Or routed through the PWM converter from the Mach 3 board?
Hi mate! glad to hear I've been able to help you out. The Stop/Start and Forward/Reverse are separate from the PWM board. They wire directly from the Mach3 Breakout board straight to the relay and then to the VFD
@@thehardwareguy thank you! I’ll give it a try when I get to that point. Keep up the great work!
Great, thank you! 🎉
Amazing guide brother, keep it up.
Training is a little out of date, is there an updated version or will the changes not be too drastic over the last 4 years?
I'd advise to learn with the same version as me, then when you feel confident update the software. Should be fairly easy to pick things up when you are familiar with the workflow
@@thehardwareguy I didn’t know downloading an old version was an option. I will try and figure that out.
How did I bend the text ?
I would like to see a full detail of the spindle tuning.
No comment, question, i am trying to use FreeCad 21.4 the problem is that i do not get an immediate response to what i have drawn i have used other programs and the response was immediate does anyone reading this have an answer by the way great tutorial
This is the BEST FreeCAD tutorial series i've come across, amazing job and an outstanding contribution to make FreeCAD better by growing its user base
Glad it was helpful!
@@thehardwareguy if you ever make a paid series of different levels of difficulty, i'll pay for each
Just ordered my X1C a few days ago can’t wait to receive it!
it's incredible, you'll love it! it has yet to fail a print on me. Perfect every time.
thankss i forget the analysis folder
Thanks! How can I mirror if the reference plane is offset from the body?
Thats awesome!
A thermometer before/after would help assessment.
This is scary good. So helpful. Easy to understand with excellent delivery. We need More More and then More
Great subject choice and very helpful delivery. Thank you for sharing
Your motor drivers appear to be daisy chained (red wire at the bottom of each one). Each red wire should be run to a terminal block instead. Also, the braided shielding of each cable in the enclosure should be soldered to a wire (ground drain) and all joined to a grounding bus bar. Corvetteguy50 covers this really well in several of his videos. You can also add noise supressor power EMI filters to power the VFD and the power supplies.
Watched 2min. Best FreeCad teacher that I ever seen
I'm curious, why didnt you use end switches for axis limitation? Im currently designing my own machine, but am sure I will use them for some security. Now you can only rely on the software to not have mistakes in the configuration and gcode.
Good stuff
The colors are absolutely horrendous yuck!
Thank you! Than you! straight to the point, clear explanation and fantastic links to support. I still fast forwarded a bit but that's on my attention span. I will use your links for the affiliate earnings to be received by you. Question. the area I want to paint is tiny. eyeballs. Can't I just slap some paint and be done? If not, am I better off finding non-spray primer and finishing coat or is it OK to spray these on the non-painted parts of PLA or ABS?
Thank you, much appreciated! You might be able to get away with it but I'd recommend trying out a range of different paints. The paints I used really struggled to take on the plastic directly, but something with a thicker consistency might do the trick!
a§§hole for not making it free
That's kind of you. The full 3D printed RC car is available on my site for free. These rod ends are included. Next time, simply ask before hurling abuse at people. Have a good one!
listen i just make the greatest art in the world but also this post is lit so thanks for sharing because i'm working on 3D printing some gears and machines and things like that but if you ever need any art you know who to call: time 🔮
outstanding. clear. concise. easy to understand. thank you !
best tutorial i've seen for this
there's no "convert mesh" now, I suppose they want you to pay for it
What size is that box?
16" x 8" x 20"
I really would like to get the cnc cad files. I’m in the gathering stage for a build. Super cool! Hope you have good luck on the thoes slabs there expensive
